So.... I'm running out of things to say to my blog. We are pretty boring people around here lately, and I've lost some gusto for the blog. I can't believe I've posted over 80 posts. More incredible is the fact that I have friends who read them. Thanks for keeping up with the crazy Lueders'. The blog has been adding to my stress levels lately, so I'm taking a blogging break. But you can bet on it, more crazy stories to come.
I start my new job on Monday. Please keep me in your prayers. I'm extremely nervous. Sometimes I wonder why they still picked me.
good bye summer, hello career!!!!

Tech-Savy
My slide show is finished!
Check out my Philly and Hershey photos!
Okay, okay so I'm not tech-savy because I'm fixing to scream. I have no idea how to move the slide show under this post. So you must look up. I think these pictures are a permanent fixture to the blog. I keep getting some "tag is not closed: EMBED" message, and since I don't speak computer, I'll be deleting the slide show in a couple of days.

Espana Wins!
The World Cup is over. Hooray for a country winning that I've actually visited. See this is how I cheer for teams that I'm not invested in. Spain played the Netherlands. Well, since I've never been to the land of wooden shoes, my apologies to the Dutch. I studied abroad in Espana, so naturally I cheered for them.

My hubby just sent me a things to do list by email. Can you believe it? I'm his personal secretary in the summer. At least after reading the email, I don't feel so bad about robbing the top BLUE sweet tart off of his candy roll. Man, we both love the blue ones. And guess what color was next to smile at him and all his things-to-do ideas, green. I don't know what's wrong with kids in America these days, but how could people like nasty green apple? When I was a kid, it was lime.

This time next week, I'll be starting my new career. EEk!
Random funny story
So my mom and I were driving to my brother's house in Houston on Friday. We were just chatting away and she said...
M: "See that store right there in that strip mall?"
P: "Yah, why?"
M: "Well the owner of that store is the rudest man in the whole world. And I told him so when I went in there."
P: "You did? What did you say?"
M: "I told him that when his customers come into his store you need to be nice and smile."
P: laughing hysterically "What did he say?"
M: He just nodded, but I kept going..."There are lots of convenient stores around here, but I chose this one. If you're not nice to people, they won't come back. That's why you need to be nice and smile."
The best part is there was a man behind her in line. She turns around and asks him, "Am I right?"
lol..the man nods and says "you're right" (Like he would disagree with a crazy lady.)
M: "I'm tired of holding back what I think. I'm just going to tell people how it is these days."
(Ummm just for clarification reasons, I have never known my mother to "hold back" what she was thinking. She's been telling people "how it is" since before I was born.)
Which is all the reason why we love her. You like it after the fact she's telling people how it is. Not when you're standing next to her. Ahhh bad flashbacks to those painful adolescent years.
The rest of the day was this big joke. I would go into a store, and when I came out I'd report back to my mom...
Me: "The sales clerk was nice AND they smiled."
Mom: "Good, they should!"
I wanted to test her and say, "Mom they weren't nice AND they didn't smile at me." I bet she would fire in their like a storm to tell them the two rules of keeping customers away from similar stores, but in fear she'd grab me by the arm to witness her "not holding back," I just said they abided by the two commandments of friendly customer service.

Cattle Business
There is never a dull moment when I head home to see my parents. I had a doctor's appointment in Houston on Friday, so I spent the weekend with my parents. On Friday night, we received a phone call from a neighbor to some land where my parents have cattle. Apparently a tree was split/broke when we had all the storms at the end of the week. Well half the tree fell on the barb wire fence creating a potential escape for cows. So what do we do at 10:30pm after we heard the message? We load up the truck and race after my dad. My dad never speeds, but boy when it's his precious cattle at stake he could work for NASCAR. Well he also gets so frazzled in stressful situations. We inspect the fence in the shadows of the trucks' headlights, and my dad grabs his chainsaw to cut the tree off of the fencec.
Dad: "Stand back. I don't have much gas."
He cranks it. Sputter, sputter, roarrrrrr, sputter, spit, spit, and dies."
Dad: "(Insert swear word here,) Out of gas."
Me: "You mean to tell me you knew you were almost out of gas, and you didn't bring the extra?" See what I mean by "frazzled?"
(This is when my mom gives me a "watch your smart mouth look.")
So being helpful, I said, "I'll run to Exxon."
Did you know you need to have chainsaw oil to mix in your gas? I didn't even know they made chainsaw oil.
So off we ride back to the house on the other side of town to pick up the extra gas and oil; now it's 11pm.
We fix this fence (well actually I watch and start the truck up every 10 minutes or so to not have the battery die out.) And my mom and I head back. Well of course my mom is speeding because it's close to midnight, and she wants to go to bed. What happens next? We get pulled over. I immediately started laughing because this is such a Weimar story. I knew she wouldn't get a ticket because she's Miss Congeniality and knows all of the cops in town.
Mom: "Hi Mr. (insert cop name here). I'm sorry I was speeding. I'm so tired, and we were fixing fence." Who has this excuse at midnight on Friday nights?
Cop: "No worries Mary."
Mom: "Do you need to see my license?"
Cop: "Nah." (at this point he's blinding me with his flashlight)
Mom: "That's my daughter."
Cop: "Where's MOPAC?!!!"
Ummm see it's not just my imagination. EVERYONE (even cops in my hometown who I have never met) loves my little girl.
Cop: "I see she's not a cow dog."
We all chuckle and off we go.
Mom (when we get home): "I'm going to give Mr. (insert cop name here) a jar of pickles I canned since he let me go."
Of course.....
Dad: "Stand back. I don't have much gas."

Salivating!
July Business!
Happy 7th of July! Well I'm a little late with the patriotic post.
We had a great 4th of July. A huge thank you for all the brave soldiers (past and present) who serve our country. (Here would be a great opportunity to insert Philly pictures-you know our nation's birthplace, but yah I still haven't gotten to those yet.)
We were dog, I mean puppy sitting for my mom the past week. Her Westie, Molly, is a cutie patootie. She's six months old and quite the little "pisser." And I don't mean that she always does her business outside if you get my drift. Oh how nice it is to have Molly back in Weimar with her mom and dad. I am also loving my clean floors.
She's so sweet. It's just those ears. Come on facial hair, keep growing!

"Oh I'll chew on this and then swallow it." You should see this puppy's poop, it's about twenty different colors because of all the toy parts she swallows. I could charge for the poop show. I have no idea why I'm talking about this. It is pretty interesting if you can stomach it. (hahaha get it, stomach....poop.....)
We also celebrated Landon's first birthday. Landon's parents are our cousins through Randy's side. He's such a cutie. He had a shirt on that said "I'm Mr. Independent." HAHAHAHA I love it! What a great shirt for the 4th and a one-year old.
We also did other typical "Fourth" things. We grilled out! I made honey glazed chicken kabobs (to die for, recipe follows), grilled corn on the cob, steamed rice, and frozen lemonade pie.
Randy also went swimming in our new backyard pool. Randy is obsessed with the water. He has been wanting a big swimming pool for sometime now. We went ahead and got an estimate and said "what the heck? it's only money. you can't take it with you." So we splurged and risked taking away Mopac's backyard. We think it's worth it. Anytime you want to swim, come on over. Here's Randy testing out the waters over the 4th.

Hehe! Yah I had ya going didn't I? This is actually Molly's swimming pool. She loves to dance in it and then come up and jump on you. Nothing smells better than a wet dog! You can see how much Mopac likes the h20.

After we ate, and Randy changed out of his swim trunks, we watched a fireworks show with our good friends. When we got home, we watched all of our neighbors waste hundreds and hundreds of dollars on fireworks. Hey, it was nice for us. We got two free firework shows. The dogs on the other hand weren't donning their Uncle Sam hats for the show. They were under our bed shaking. Poor little buggers!

Busy Day Ahead
Yes, me teacher turned counselor with this long summer looming ahead, has a full day ahead of her.
I'm going to lunch at Chuy's with two of my best girlfriends. (Shout out to Leslie and Kara!) Then, we are going to sit in the a.c. and watch movies. Oh I also made blonde brownies last night for a snack. What movies, you ask?
Well....I am the most behind person in the world. I have never seen the Twilight movies. Why? Because they look terrible.....
Now I love the Twilight saga. I did the old fashion thing to obtain this opinion....I read! I very hesitantly took Leslie's recommendation last year and picked up Twilight. "Les, I hate sci-fi/fantasy. I don't want to read about vampires sucking blood. I'm not going to read it." She told me that you soon forget it's about vampires. Well then why read it? It's like the whole "it tastes like chiken." Why wouldn't I just eat chicken then? Anyways, we have very similar reading tastes, so I humored her.
And.....I am on Team Edward to this very day!!! I pretty much "devoured" (hehe) Twilight and New Moon. Then Eclipse was my favorite of the whole saga. Breaking Dawn (the 4th) was just plain weird. Everyone can make it to book 3. Book 4, come on Stephenie Meyer, this is just too weird. I tried to explain to Randy what was happening. He gave me the "I married such a weirdo look." Warning: Don't explain the plot out loud. People will stare.
So Leslie has insisted Kara and I see the movies. I have mixed emotions about the whole thing. I heard the first one was terrible with a capital T. That's why we're watching Twilight and New Moon back-to-back. I never really like movies that are based on books. The books are way better.
And why on earth does Edward look as white as the guy in that old 90's movie "Powder?" Oh well, this will keep me busy for FOUR hours. Whoo hoo!!! I'll let you know how it goes. Who knows, I might like the first two enough to go see Eclipse, maybe even in Imax where things jump out at you. Because who wouldn't want Taylor Lockner jumping out at you? Seriously!
