Gosh, it's hard to spare some time for this blog.
I have a huge shout out tonight and the reason I'm typing away at 10:30 pm. My friend Kara inspired this post. She sent me a "friendly you haven't posted in a long time" text tonight. She is my biggest blogger fan. In fact, she might be the only person reading this post. So this one is for you, my sweet friend!
Today was day one of Thanksgiving vacation. I did some hard core relaxing. PSYCHE!
Campbell went to daycare, so I could become Maid Penny. I hate cleaning! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!
It took me all day, and right now folks (or Kara!) it's been clean for a total of two hours. Tomorrow when my little rugrat awakes, the hours will have stopped. She can destroy a room in less than 2 seconds. (But I can't wait to spend the day with her!)
I cleaned from top to bottom both bathrooms, the play room, Campbell's room, the kitchen, living room, our room, swept, mopped, vacuumed, and dusted EVERYTHING. It took me ALL DAY! Have I mentioned this?
I don't want anyone to mess anything up. When I say "anything," I mean no walking, eating, or going to the restroom. Breathing is okay as long as you're not creating dust. It's such a pain to clean that I don't want anyone to mess up my spotless house. Maybe we should move.
I ended the fun day with a trip to HEB. If you haven't been to the grocery store yet for your Thanksgiving preparations, let me give you a word of advice, GO WITH PLAN B. Plan B should be Domino's or Pizza Hut because the grocery store is chaotic. Don't do it, folks. Seriously, pizza or Whataburger. You could end up in prison on death row for the violent accounts you might commit while you steer your basket cussing under your breath through the congested aisles. Is that can of yams worth it?
And to top this chocolate fudge sundae of a day off, I saw a homeless man begging for money on the corner on my way home. I never give money to homeless people. It's a rule I have. I won't get into my reasons why, but I will offer food if I have it in my car. Today, it's 39 degrees. This poor man is shaking. He has no gloves, and he's holding a sign asking for money. Now, the first thought I had was "is he working a shift and working on the heart strings of people because it's so cold?" Then I thought, "No way! It's flipping freezing!" I almost broke my rule, but just coming from HEB, I rolled my window down and offered the man the only thing edible out of my Thanksgiving loot of butter and brown sugar (I'm in charge of dessert---insert fat girl dance here), a banana. Now, I know it's not a warm cooked meal, but anything would feel better in his stomach than nothing, right?
He laughed at me! Get.out.of.town.
He told me "I can't eat that. It's too cold." He then took out a pair of gloves from his pocket.
And that folks is when I then decided to have a change of heart and offer him money. PSYCHE! I'm still in disbelief actually.
Tomorrow will be a better day! I can just tell!
Happy Turkey Week!

things I know...
-I have such a cool job. I just finished my first sixth grade guidance lesson plan. We're watching a Duck Dynasty clip. Happy, happy, happy!
-I get most of my news from my Facebook newsfeed.
-Which also means I'll never be cool enough to watch an episode of "Breaking Bad." What is this?
-nor will I have a desire to find out about a twerk mishap!???
-Randy has the biggest pride band-aid on his arm. He claims he's not going to watch UT embarrass themselves in anymore games this season. I'm sure you'll hear the slow and agonizing ripping of this band-aid when Saturday comes along. Are you ready for some football?
-Campbell hates the potty. And just when I thought we were doing so well...sigh!
-I'm starting to hate cooking. And meal planning. And going to HEB. And cleaning up the dishes afterwards. And heating left overs. I need a personal chef.
-I've just completed Day 30 of a fitness challenge I joined. I'm down 12 inches. Boo-yah! Sixty more days to go!
-I haven't blogged in almost two months. Ughh... I'm the slacker of the year. No, make that juggler of the year. The first part of the school year is rough. Everyone is having to adjust.
-The smell of rain today was the most welcome aroma.
-I'm on a mission in avoiding lots of sweets, but I tried the most sinful morsel this weekend. A recipe for cream cheese, pecan cookies will be appearing soon. Gosh, I'll never be skinny.

Achy Breaky Heart
Gosh, I love the 90's hit music channel.
I just heard these goodies...
"Bills, Bills, Bills"- Destiny's Child aka Beyonce's band
"Genie in a Bottle"- best Aguilera song ever. Why? because she just sounds sweet and innocent. It's like old school Britney. You just can't beat it.
"I Don't Want to Wait"- Paula Cole
Anyone else craving an episode of Dawson's Creek right now?
And oh my, as I'm typing my girl Britney just came on with "Sometimes." You know, the video where she and her pals (probably friends from her Mickey Mouse club days- the sweet and innocent Mouseketeers) frolicking around a dock in all white...pure innocence. You can't beat it.
I'm really just avoiding cleaning the bathroom with this post.
I hate, hate, hate cleaning the bathroom. It tops unloading the dishwasher.
And I'd rather sulk about turning 30 and how the music just isn't as good these days. Young people just don't appreciate fine music.
Rod Stewart just came on...Doesn't he belong on the 80s station?
I'm not that old.
I think it's my cue to tackle the bathroom.

All about poop
I'm not lying.
The title of this post is literally all about the deuce.
(I think my cool level went way high right now because I have never ever been able to type the word "Deuce" in anything that I write.)
Well folks, we are entering that phase where we talk about pottying all the time.
All.
the.
time.
Look at my big girl on her potty!
To catch you all up, Campbell is 18 months now.
She's grown so much since my last blog post.
She's sassin' off, eating her vegetables (and fruit because that's what really fuels this post's topic) and telling us when she has to go poo poo.
Sigh...they grow so fast.
Isn't that kinda young to start potty training?
What's that you say?
Oh, I also should catch you up on that too.
She's a genius.
(Never mind, she uses the word poo poo for number 1 AND number 2. And sometimes tells you after the fact. It's all about baby steps.)
I honestly have no idea when she's ready.
Everyone keeps saying, "Oh, you'll know when she's ready."
Huh?
She says "poo poo" about ten times a day.
Doesn't that pretty much mean we need to head to the toilet?
Well being a first time parent, we took it to the next level.
We have a Disney princess toilet seat to set on a big girl potty. We own a royal princess throne toilet that sings when something hits the sensor (i'm not even kidding). She has big girl panties and tons of books about pottying.
We give her a M&M every time that little toilet sings.
That poor child.
Blame it on Pavlov and his salivating dog, but every time she sees a M and M in her near future, she'll probably wet her pants.
So I get it, she's young. We're not potty pros. We have only given out 6 m & m's, but hey it's something, right?
To be honest, I think she likes to go potty because it's fun to sit in the spare bedroom. We never allow her in this room because it's the "oh my gosh, I don't want to unpack these last few boxes so just shove it in here" room. And it's a disaster.
Why is her potty located here?
Because the spare bathroom is about to be completely remodeled and it's a bigger disaster. (Post on that soon)
What does she do when she sits in here?
She plays with the office supplies that I am dreading finding a home for now that we are sans desk.
Paper clips and toddlers?
Hey, it keeps her on that potty for about 2 additional minutes!
Most of the time she usually just sits and laughs at me.
She attempts to open pens and put paper clips in her hair like clips and bows.
How do you make a child go potty?
They'll tell you when they're ready.
(She did about ten seconds prior when she yelled "poo poo" across the house.)
Penny's Attempts in Getting Campbell to Potty
attempt 1: get her a book
Failure 1: she wants to touch the book
rule number 1 regarding bathroom behavior: don't touch anything. EVER! eww...germs!
attempt 2: sing her a poop song
Failure 2: she gets off her potty and starts dancing
rule number 2 regarding bathroom behavior: no dancing with your pants off
attempt 3: play noises related to pooping (I actually googled this. You know, like how the sound of a running faucet helps people pee. You Tube never disappoints.)
Failure 3: I almost started gagging with all the real life noises.
rule number 3 regarding bathroom behavior: let's not go there
grr...
NOTHING WORKS!
So I just let her play with paper clips (in supervision of course).
See? This sounds way better now than a poop song.
Sigh.
We have a looooooong way to go.
p.s. sorry this post is so gross.
p.p.s. having children changes everything.
p.p.p.s. I can write a whole post about pooping now.

Broccoli and Rice
Dinner was pretty much perfect.
Looking for an amazing, southern, down-home, makes your belly feel all fuzzy and warm, way better than Cracker Barrell side?
Look no further!
My Aunt Diana's broccoli and rice casserole will blow your socks off!
2 lg heads fresh broccoli
1/2 c. onions, finely chopped
1 c. rice
1 can cream of chicken soup (You could used the reduced fat soups...)
1 can cream of mushroom soup (But why...)
1 small jar of Cheese Whiz (When you're putting delicious Cheese Whiz in it?)
Cook broccoli until tender and then coarsely chop. Cook rice. Saute onions in large pan with a little oil. Mix the soups and cheese in once onions are tender and simmer until thoroughly heated. In the bottom of a 2 qt. casserole dish, mix together the broccoli and rice. Top with the cheese mixture. Bake 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Stir all ingredients together and bake for an additional 5 minutes. If you like livin' on the edge, you can add shredded cheese on top for those last five minutes. We skip this step because we like this dish to be healthy! :)
