Globes?

Randy's sweet, sweet Granny is moving and selling her home. I'm not going to express my selfish feelings of gloom and sadness, but just so you know I love, love, love that house. But we're moving on, so I don't cry. Did I mention I love that house?

Anyways, it's been an ongoing project to distribute her things/belongings that she can't take with her when she moves.

I scored a quilt and a really cool Pottery Barn inspired lamp!

Randy asked for some of Grandpa's tools and various lawn things. He also asked for some other interesting things. One of his favorite items is this...

Do they still make globes?

And where exactly do you put that?

And how do you say "No you can't have one of your Granny's items?"

And who wants a globe?

Randy is fascinated with globes. Apparently, he has been since he was little.

I was fascinated with globes when I was little as well because I could play the "where will I live" game. You know, you spin the globe and skim your finger against it as it twirls and twirls. Where will it stop no one knows, but the stopping point would be your future address as an adult.

I'm so thankful I'm not living in the Atlantic Ocean. The whole ocean and land ratio was not in my favor. I always ended up landing in the water. Shark bait! Shark bait! Shark bait!

Our "new" globe is a little out of date. I'm pretty sure Granny had that globe when her children were little. I could do the finger skimming game and possibly end up living in the ocean or the USSR.

I'm not sure how to address the location of this globe.

Side note: We are revamping some things in the house. One of the things is turning the loft into a media center. We are going to move the current living room couch upstairs and add an end table and tv. I'm way excited about this, and a funny furniture story will soon be posted, but for now back to the "global" crises.

R: "Penny, I was thinking we could get an end table and put the globe on it in the loft."

P: (insert laugh here)

R: "I don't know why that's funny. I was thinking either there or on my nightstand by the bed."

P: (insert bigger laugh here)

Anybody need a globe? That whole "where will I live game" is quite exciting!

Why We Are Friends...

I love my dear friend Jana. She cracks me up all the time. We hung out yesterday and had a blast. We took Mopac for a long walk and had frozen yogurt! Here is a glimpse into one of my many favorite conversations with her.

As we are driving past the Round Rock Fire Department...

J: "You want to know something? The Round Rock fire fighters are fine!"

P: "Aren't they?"

J: "Oh Penny, they came to school to give an assembly, and after it was over, I told the kids 'I'm going to pick up your pencils.' I started walking across the gym floor because this guy was fine. The kids start yelling across the floor, 'Ms. Walker, you can get our pencils from that firefighter.' Penny, they wanted their pencils from the old, married guy. I said 'I'll be right back' because I was walking all the way across the gym. And then they start again, 'Ms. Walker, look he has pencils too.' I had to turn around and scold them 'Boys and girls we are at an assembly. Please sit down and be quiet.' I walked up to the hot guy and sweetly smiled, '28 pencils please.' "

lol!!!! Oh Jana!

email encouragement

Randy and I sometimes send each other emails during the day. Brief snippets of information since it's hard to play phone tag when I'm in and out of my office so much.

Usually it's things like, "What time are you going to be home to let Mopac out?" or "What's for dinner?"

Well I sent him an email about me complaining about something, and he gave great encouragement. I'm not being facetious. I was complaining about something completely stupid, dramatic, and irrelevant. Here was his email reply back to me on Friday.

It had not one word. But with Randy, you usually get his point with pictures, expressions, looks...

One point Randy!

encouragement

I could use a big dose of encouragement right now. My New Year's goal was to constantly be seeking God, to somehow recognize His presence daily in my life. Most days I have no trouble with this, and some days I just cry trying to find Him.

I've been listening mainly to Christian radio, and I think it is very uplifting. Music speaks to me. Sometimes my prayers are just song lyrics. I love this one recently...

I don't ask for many personal prayers on my blog. I don't know it makes me feel kinda funny or embarrassed when there is so much suffering in this world. My blessings greatly outweigh my sufferings, and it feels silly to ask for prayers sometimes. But if you could shoot up an encouragement prayer for me, that would be rad!!!

"Walk By Faith" by Jeremy Camp

Would I believe you when you would say
Your hand will guide my every way
Will I receive the words You say
Every moment of every day

Well I will walk by faith
Even when I cannot see
Well because this broken road
Prepares Your will for me

Help me to win my endless fears
You've been so faithful for all my years

With one breath You make me new
Your grace covers all I do

Well I will walk by faith
Even when I cannot see
Well because this broken road
Prepares Your will for me

Well I'm broken- but I still see Your face
Well You've spoken- pouring Your words of grace

I love serving such an amazing God!

Happy St. Patty's Day

that is hilarious!

$pring Break-ing the bank

Whoa!

This has been an expensive week. It has been super fun, but super pricey.

I think I would have spent less money if I would have went on a trip.

What is wrong with me? I'm outta control when it comes to shopping.

I love it so much!

I mean I don't think it's a huge problem because I don't really feel guilty afterwards. I use to worry if Randy would find out, but I have three different accounts. The one we share is the one that I put the least amount on. I'm too smart for my own good! I'm pretty sure he's semi-aware because he left this morning saying, "Stay out of the stores today."

Check out my cute finds!

I went home this past weekend to spend time with my family while Randy was in Denver. You would think I'd be safe in the spending money department in Weimar, but no those hometown stores always find me. I love my year round flower. It's garden art, and it won't ever die. Randy will appreciate that! Isn't our bench gorgeous? Randy's mom gave it to us for Christmas. I'm all over looking for a cute bench pad. I got some pretty stripe pillows for the rockers. Now I just need something for the bench!

These signs are perfect for my counseling office! When I saw this cute tag, I thought of some of my kiddos. And hey if I lose my job next year with all this education budget chaos, I can add them to our house! I'm always thinking ahead!

Whoa! Look at that cutie! Do you think looking this good doesn't come with a price tag? Mopac is sporting her spring hair cut. Gosh it's expensive to get your dog groomed! It's pretty short, and she looks extra sissy, but oh so precious!

A girl can never have too much jewelry. And Forever 21 believes that too! They price their stuff so cheap, it's like they are begging you to walk out with it. This necklace is fun, and I don't own anything like it. So I embraced my hippie spirit within and scored a necklace that will break in 2 weeks! Thanks Forever 21!

This bunny and bird combo stole my heart! Hobby Lobby has so many Pottery Barn looks for a fraction of the price. I've been eying some bunnies from PB. And lo and behold, Hobby Lobby pulls through again! I love how they have knock off looks. I had to have these to grace our mantel for spring. I saved a fortune! I have gift cards to PB I considered using for the bunnies, but now I can save them for something more important, maybe like a crib one day;) A girl can dream, right?

Want to hear Randy's comments about my new things? He had zero! Well, I take it back. He had one, but it's so trivial it's really not worth mentioning. But now since I've peaked your interest, I'll share. But I think there's some confusion about what he meant.

His reaction to the bunny and bird?
R: "Great, that's more crap we have to store after Easter is over."

Umm, what I think he meant to say was, "Wow, thanks Penny for creating such wonderful holiday memories. I love how for every holiday we have beautiful home decor to showcase these events and what they truly mean. One day when we have children, it'll be fun to secure these treasures away each year to only unfold more memories for the next festival. You're the best!"

Aww shucks! Thanks Randy!

Well that's really cool

One of my favorite SNL skits is the Miley Cyrus show. Here is a little taste from you tube.

I love the "That's pretty cool."

We say this with the Miley voice around our house pretty regularly.

In fact I have a doctor who has the Miley voice. He gets really excited and has her voice. It's stinking hilarious. He's never said, "That's pretty cool." I'm pretty sure Randy and I will be rolling on the floor if he ever does.

So here's my list of things that are pretty cool! Don't forget to use the Miley voice.

1) Paul Mitchell's tea tree shampoo! Your scalp is tingling long after the blow dryer. Pricey, but "hey, it's pretty cool." Literally!

2) My mom and I ran into Mr. Mikeska. Don't know who he is?

Umm He's the barbeque king of the southwest!

And "hey, that's pretty cool!"

But the really cool part is he owns a catering company in Columbus, Texas. We saw him in Houston. And he was looking extra dapper in his black bow tie. He's 87 years old, and he was cruisin' around Sam's Club like a teenager. He catered my parents wedding 39 years ago. "That's pretty cool."

3) Gloria's Restaurant! My old teaching team went out to dinner tonight to catch up. We usually get together every other month and reminiscence. I miss them so much! Well, Joni is way adventurous, and I was a little nervous about her dinner pick. Last month it was my pick, and I went all out with a lovely choice... the Olive Garden.

Gloria's is in the domain, and they have Salvadorian food. Who wants yucca?

I got some steak dinner with tomato sauce. The black bean dip was amazing. I was adventurous and tried the fried plantains. No thanks, but my steak was so tender and yummy. "It was pretty cool." Definitely going back!

Guess what Joni ate? Yucca, plantains, and a banana leaf wrapped tamale.
She's so cool. "She's pretty cool."

4) My Kindle arrived for spring break reading. "That's pretty cool!"

Spring break post coming tomorrow. I've been so busy! I have tons to say! Stay tuned!

You blog readers are pretty cool!

Randy-ism

Background: Randy just bought a new baseball game for his Playstation.

Randy: "Penny watch this! I'm about to hit a bunch of batters in a row to see if they'll let us start fighting on the game."

Nothing like a little Street Fighter/Mortal Combat mixed into sports. I agree fighting would make baseball much more interesting, like enough to make me enjoy it!

Hit those batters!

Randy: "Uh oh, charge the mound."

Yes! Please do! Why am I so interested in this potential video game fight?

Time for bed!

that just happens

Do you ever see things or hear things that just make you scratch your head? Well it's amazing some of the things that happen in this world.

For instance, this college basketball player shooting free throws on the television cut his hair to have a lightening bolt zigzagging through it.

Hmmm...

The Rico's nacho cheese commercial uses the word "gourmet." Rico's and gourmet? I'd hate to see non gourmet dips! Yummy!

Hmm...

Gas prices!

Hmm...

www.cougarlife.com
An entire dating website dedicated to cougars on the prowl. I just saw the commercial, "Date a Cougar." Yah, you should google it. The website says, "You don't have to be Demi Moore or Madonna to land a cute cub (young man)."

I love how they found it necessary to define cub! Is there any confusion among their website readers? I really don't have anything else to say on this topic, so I'll just go with the above word that states my confusion/disgust/indifference

Hmm...

Why you get pimples as an adult? Aren't I done with this whole puberty thing?
Can you be 27 years old and in the puberty stage? My hormones say YES!

Hmm...

How people ask tons of questions about information that you previously sent out in an email, in tons of details. Selective email checking is not an option especially if the subject line says "Important, Please Read!" Oh also, please don't respond with "Oh did you email that out? I haven't checked it yet!"

Hmm...

Why Mopac is obsessed with dragging every one of her toys upstairs? We have a basket designated for all of her play toys. Dogs, they just don't get my expectations of organization.

Hmm...

good stuff

Two things made me smile this weekend...

An elderly woman, I'd say about 90,was gallantly pushing her walker around the local Chick Fil A today. She wasn't moving too fast, but boy oh boy was she rockin' her Nike Shocks!

Last night, we had dinner with some friends at Phil's Icehouse. I highly recommend this burger joint. It was a close second to Moonie's, our all time favorite place to get a hamburger in Austin. The place was packed! We sat next to a family who apparently loves watching "The Hangover." In the middle of dinner, the four year old little girl just starts shouting, "In the face."

It was hysterical. Not sure why she knows lines from that movie. But dad was proud. What little girl doesn't love a good prison scene with other little kids shocking men in the face. "In the face!"

In the face!
Ahh good times!

March 2nd!

3 reasons why today is amazing!

1) TAKS secure and nonsecure materials were delivered to district state assessment office at 3:45 today.

2)
Happy Texas Independence Day! I love being a native Texan!

3) Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! You are my literary hero!
